May-Anne Very is an Assistant Professor in the Strategic Management Department. Her research lies at the intersection of corporate strategy, sustainability and computational methods. She investigates how firms reconfigure their resource base to address major strategic challenges, and how these choices affect firms and their stakeholders. Her primary stream of research has focused on sustainability as one of these critical issues. For instance, her papers have examined the impact of sustainability-driven acquisitions, and recent projects explore the role of climate change in shaping corporate strategy decisions. Her work has been published in the Global Strategy Journal and received the 2026 Academy of Management Nonmarket Strategy Track Best Paper Award.
Assistant Professor Very is also deeply engaged with computational methods and AI as tools for strategy research. She is particularly interested in how emerging data sources and analytical approaches can expand the range of strategic questions that research can address. Her work draws, among others, on satellite data, text analysis and large-scale analyses of consumer packaged goods markets.
At IESE, she teaches Corporate Strategy and Competitive Strategy in the MBA, EMBA, Master in Management, Executive Education and Custom programs. She holds a Ph.D. in Strategy from INSEAD, an M.Sc. in Management from HEC Paris, and completed a one-year program specializing in Economics (M1) at École Polytechnique / Université Paris-Saclay. Prior to joining academia, she worked in M&A and consulting across Europe and Asia.
